The Millennium Stage and VSA arts presented Lisa Bufano performing Five Open Mouths with a screening of Phoenix Dance, a documentary chronicling the career of acclaimed dancer Homer Avilaa Homer.

I moved to Oakland May 6 to work with Axis Dance Company.
Update: I found a place to live near Lake Merritt in Oakland. Thanks to all of you who emailed your suggestions and support.So far, california is treating me really well and ‘m having a great time getting to know the Axis extended community.
VSA Arts will present a Homer Avila film documentary and Lisa Bufano performing Five Open Mouths on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center. The event is part of the Start with the Arts Family Festival, a dynamic, month-long celebration of the arts featuring artists with disabilities.

I’m currently engaged in the ‘Free to Rep Program’, a 3-week residency with Axis Dance Co. & 4 fantastic choreographers at The Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreograph in Tallahassee, Fla. The choreographers, Isabel Croxatto/Isabel Croxatto+Abundanza (Chile), Shinichi Iova-Koga/Inkboat (CA), Alex Ketley/The Foundry (CA), and Kate Weare (NY), were selected to spend from 63 applicants interested in working with AXIS, the Oakland based physically integrated dance company, in a research laboratory environment as part of a pilot MANCC program entitled Free to Rep.
